Blackburn Buccaneer S2

Belair are pleased to offer the first in a range of electric ducted fan scale jets from Mark Douglas. Here is the Buccaneer's description in Mark's own words: "I designed this Blackburn Buccaneer S2 originally just for myself, the prototype took about 6 months to design and build, and was a great success. Some guys on the RC forums asked me to arrange a “short” kit for them. A couple of modellers agreed to beta build them, and finally here it is. I hope you like it and enjoy building and flying it as much as I have. It’s a “short” kit for experienced modellers and flyers. The kit itself is designed to be a “framework” as near to scale as possible, for the builder to plank and finish in his preferred way. The prototype was finished in 2oz glass cloth and epoxy resin. It’s also left to the builder to decide which hardware to use such as servo’s, power systems, hatches and latches etc. The Buccaneer uses a dolly for takeoff, plans are available. Flying performance could be described as scale jet like, with plenty of power available for low fast attack runs and stunning rolling climb-outs, just like the real deal. Control authority is good, with a glide that goes on forever. Landings are easiest heading into a moderate breeze, on calm days make your approaches as long as possible."
