Bestowed by the Mitsubishi design team with elegance, simplicity, and an outstanding combination of areas, moments and other features guaranteeing good flying qualities, the Zero inherently makes an excellent RC model. Upon this base, and with five years experience at designing 1/5-scale models, Dave came up with a champion. Entered in the 1983 Scale Masters final, the Zero scored an all-but-perfect 98.5, the highest score ever achieved in Masters competition. And yet, this is a scale model that you can use for Sunday flying, with honest habits like a sport model. Either the square-tipped A6M3 ("Hamp") or the A6M5 ("Zeke") can be built from the kit. With a light engine (O.S. Max .90 or 1.08) the weight can be held inside 15 lbs. if desired for Sport Scale competition. For Giant Scale, weights up to 22 lbs. are permissible with this design and still allow complete maneuverability and safe low-speed handling. An upright engine and other highly developed serviceability features make this an enjoyable ship on the field. Building is straightforward, with ordinary balsa construction and methods. Information on Zeros is plentiful, with many attractive and simple color schemes. If you're ready to move up into 1/5-scale, this Zero's for you! SPECIFICATIONS: Scale 1:5.5 (2.2” = 1’).
